PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The public bike-sharing program BIKETOWN is celebrating its first birthday Wednesday. In honor of the occasion, BIKETOWN is offering free rides to everyone.

Riders can earn one free day pass for up to three hours of biking when they sign up using an online form.

BIKETOWN will also be holding several events throughout the week including special commuter stations along popular bike routes and a Stumptown cold brew giveaway.

In the past year, more than 75,000 BIKETOWN riders have biked over 602,000 miles. That is equivalent to 24 times around the earth.
