ALBANY, OR (KPTV) -

One of two Oregon Youth Authority prisoners who escaped in La Grande was caught a month later hundreds of miles away in Albany.

Brittain McAuliffe and Micah West, both 18 years old, escaped from the Camp Riverbend Youth Transitional Facility on the 58000 block of Highway 224 on June 20.

Investigators said one or both then stole a white Ford F250 truck that belongs to Oregon State Parks and Recreation from Emigrant Springs State Park in Meacham.

Police said West was detained by Albany officers for shoplifting candy bars at around midnight Tuesday.

Officers determined he had an active warrant for his arrest and he was booked into the Linn County Jail before being transferred to the MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn to await disposition.

Police said he may face charges for his escape, as well as other violations committed after his escape.

McAuliffe remains at large. He was seen the weekend after his escape at a pharmacy in Milton-Freewater.

McAuliffe, of Central Point, is described as a white man, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 220 pounds with a stocky build and tattoos on both forearms, including one described as "Native Pride."

His hair is short on the sides with the top around 6 inches long in a ponytail. McAuliffe wears glasses and was last seen wearing a white tank top, black shorts with a red strip on the sides and black and red mid-top shoes.

Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911.
