VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A water main break damaged a sidewalk, street and office building in Vancouver on Thursday.

City crews were notified of the break on Fourth Street near Columbia Street at around noon.

Fourth Street was closed between Columbia and Washington streets while crews made repairs. They were able to isolate the break and shut down the water at that point.

The city reported the break involved an 8-inch 1938 cast iron line and caused a heavy flow of water in the area.

The amount of water from the break was not immediately known.

Damage to the building did not appear to be structural based on initial checks, but the city will be following up to determine the extent of the water damage.

No customers lost water service due to the water main break.
