A 21-year-old man was sentenced to 35 years in prison for shooting and killing a man outside a Beaverton sports complex.

A jury convicted Roshawn Rondell Austin Travers last week on charges including murder and attempted aggravated murder for a shooting outside a sports complex in Beaverton last year.

He was sentenced in court Friday.

Officers responded to The Courts on Southwest Millikan Way near Murray Boulevard at 8:50 p.m. June 18, 2016.

Two 23-year-old men were found suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to the hospital and Andres Castorena died early the next morning.

The second victim survived.

Travers was identified as the primary suspect and taken into custody a short distance from the shooting scene. He was 19 years old at the time.

Investigators said the two victims pulled into the parking lot of The Courts and an argument ensued before Travers opened fire.

Along with charges of murder and attempted murder, Travers was convicted on charges of assault, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm.
