LEBANON, OR (KPTV) -

Deputies are investigating the shooting of a Lebanon man Sunday evening and believe it may stem from a dispute between neighbors.

According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to 911 calls reporting gunshots fire in the 600 block of B Street just after 9 p.m.

When deputies arrived at the scene they found 58-year-old Jerry Lynn Chasteen, who had been shot multiple times.

The deputies then determined a large caliber handgun had been used in a dispute between Chasteen and a 25-year-old neighbor.

Chasteen was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis with serious injuries and was listed in stable condition as of midday Monday.

The other neighbor and witnesses were detained by deputies, but no arrests have been made. Deputies also noted that all parties are cooperating with the investigation at this time.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing as detectives are processing the scene for evidence and working to determine if this was a criminal matter or an act of self-defense.
