SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Police in Salem arrested two people they say led police on a chase in a stolen car where the suspects drove onto a pedestrian path and rammed into a patrol vehicle.

The incident started just after 1 p.m. when a Salem Police Department detective located a stolen 1991 Honda Accord near 39th Avenue Northeast and D Street Northeast.

The detective noted that a woman was driving the vehicle and that a man was in the passenger seat, then called patrol officers to assist with a traffic stop.

The driver then fled north on 39th Avenue, driving through residential areas and at one point driving through Harry and Grace Thorp Park and down a pedestrian pathway leading from the park back onto 38th Avenue Northeast.

Police continued to pursue the vehicle, even as it ran into a patrol car until officers terminated the pursuit as a matter of safety.

The officers were able to once again locate the vehicle at the intersection of Cottage Street Northeast and Belmont Street Northeast. Investigators said the man was now in the driver’s seat of the car and that the woman had fled the scene.

Officers took the man, identified as 18-year old Reynaldo Rosales, into custody. They located the woman, identified as 32-year old Donna Celeste Dubbe of Salem, near Capitol Street Northeast and D Street Northeast and took her into custody.

Dubbe is charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, felony attempting to elude an officer, misdemeanor attempting to elude an officer, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving and failure to perform the duties of a driver involved in an accident (hit and run).

Rosales is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Medical personnel were called to the scene to check on the officer in the patrol car that was rammed but he was not injured.
