Police: Man arrested after attacking woman, running from officers in NE Portland

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police arrested a man after he attacked a woman and then ran from officers Monday night.

Police said just before 7 p.m. the received a report of a disturbance in the 2100 block of Northeast Halsey Street.

According to police, a man armed with a knife had a assaulted a woman in the basement parking garage of a building.

When officers arrived to the area, they located the victim. The suspect ran from police, and officers chased him on foot through the neighborhood and several residences before capturing him in a neighborhood apartment.

The victim and suspect, whose names have not been released, were taken to Portland hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.
