CHEHALIS, WA (KPTV) -

An 82-year-old man died after his pickup was hit by a train in the Chehalis area.

The collision occurred at SR-6 and Twin Oaks Road at 6:44 p.m. July 15.

Washington State Patrol reported Friday that Jerry W. Mullins of Curtis had died at the hospital.

Investigators said Mullins was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup eastbound on SR-6 when he failed to see warning lights for a train that was approaching.

The train hit the truck. The cause of the crash was determined to be Mullins’ failure to yield the right of way, according to police.

There were no reports of other injuries. Police said Mullins was not impaired by drugs or alcohol and he was wearing a seat belt.
