TUALATIN, OR (KPTV) -

Tualatin police are asking for help identifying three women they believe to be behind a brazen theft from a Mexican food store.

Investigators released surveillance pictures Friday of three women who entered La Barca Mexican Store on Southwest Seneca Street on Wednesday around 5:15 p.m.

Officers said the suspects, described as heavyset and Hispanic, came into the store and pretended to shop.

A store employee who asked her identity not be revealed told FOX 12 that two of the women distracted her and the store owner.

“One of them asked the owner to show her some things in the back, some pots,” she said. “She really wanted to see them.”

While that was happening, the employee said she was on the phone when a second woman tried to distract her.

“She had turned around in a way where I wouldn’t be facing where the money was, and that is when the third one went around grabbed the money bag and put it in her own bag,” she explained.

The employee said the three may be behind several other similar thefts in Oregon.

“They have been up and down I-5, and I would like to warn little businesses,” she said. “They are out there, three women out there and they are robbing people."

Tualatin police told FOX 12 they are investigating whether this case is connected to other incidents.

The employee said she and the others working at the store just want the women caught.

“We are not the first ones, and we really hope we are the last and hope that this is it and they catch them after this,” she said.

The store is offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the three women, and police ask anyone with information about this incident to please call Detective Kevin Winfield at 503-691-4845 and reference case #17-2121. People who wish to remain anonymous can call the tip-line at 503-691-0285.
