PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police have two suspects in custody following a shooting in the Boise neighborhood that left one man injured.

Officers from the Portland Police Bureau’s North Precinct responded to the scene in the 6900 block of North Haight Avenue around 6:42 p.m. after receiving reports of a disturbance and a gunshot.

As officers were responding to the scene, 911 dispatchers received a call from someone who said a gunshot victim had arrived at their home a block away.

While some officers worked to establish a perimeter around the location where the suspect was last seen, other officers responded to the location of the victim they began rendering assistance to that man.

An ambulance was staged a safe distance from the search area, and the officers with the victim helped him to reach the ambulance. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is believed to have a non-life-threatening injury.

As officers began to enter the residence that they had surrounded, a suspect came out and surrendered to police. The suspect, 41-year-old Michael Whitmore, was taken into custody, and officers recovered a gun at that location.

The officers also took a second person into custody connected to the disturbance.

Detectives from the Assault Detail and criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division responded to the scene to continue the investigation.

Officers believe there is currently no danger to the public tied to this incident.
