PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Portland Trail Blazers and Nike have unveiled the team’s new uniforms.

The new designs were released to the public for the first time Saturday during the annual Rip City 3-on-3 event at the Rose Quarter.

Nike is taking over for Adidas in creating the official NBA uniforms, starting with the upcoming season.

According to the Blazers, the new uniforms are lighter – as players had requested – and they wick sweat away faster, while also drying quicker than the old jerseys.

The jerseys are said to be more “form-fitting,” as well.

The Blazers previously rolled out a slightly modified pinwheel logo in May.

The team reports that focus groups have been providing feedback on uniform and logo updates for several years and the overwhelming sentiment was to keep the standard uniforms relatively unchanged.

There will be two additional uniform options that will be released at a later date.
