HAGG LAKE, OR (KPTV) -

Crews recovered the body of a swimmer at Hagg Lake Monday morning after deputies received a report of a possible drowning there late Sunday.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a woman told deputies that she was with a man, later identified as 68-year-old Mark Allan Cuddigan of Hillsboro, swimming in Bobcat Cove when he went under the water and did not come back above the surface.

The woman then drove to the sheriff’s office in Hillsboro to the report the incident.

Deputies searching the lake found Cuddigan’s body in the water around 2 a.m., and crews with the Gaston Fire Department recovered the body and released it to the Washington County Medical Examiner.

Deputies did not find any evidence of foul play and believe that Cuddigan was not wearing a life jacket when the incident occurred.

With record high temperatures expected this week, the sheriff’s office is reminding those heading to the water to always wear a life jacket.
