PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Monday marks National Heatstroke Prevention Day, just one day before Portland could face its first of four triple-digit temperature days

According to KidsAndCars.org, an organization that promotes child safety in cars, 37 kids every year die from heat-related causes, including heatstroke, from being left in cars.

In high temperatures, people and animals can be at risk of heatstroke inside and outside. Heatstroke symptoms can include dizziness, light-headedness, lack of sweat despite the heat, dry skin, dehydration and fainting.

If someone has heatstroke, they should be taken to an emergency room.
