PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

People in north Portland are fed up after they said drifters took over their neighborhood.

Neighbors said every Sunday like clockwork, they can hear and see cars cruising and doing doughnuts in a lot right by their homes.

Neighbors said it looks like a scene only a Hollywood movie could create.

“There must've been 50, 60 cars down there so I mean it was 'Too Fast, Too Furious' in Portland, who knew,” said a neighbor who wanted to remain anonymous.

The neighbor who caught it all on camera did not want to show his face because of safety concerns, but he said it started a couple months ago.

“At first you think, oh it's just a couple people having some fun down on Swan Island, it’s not very far away here, and then it's just kind of been picking up speed and increasing in noise,” he said.

He said not only are the cruising cars extremely loud, but they also create big clouds of smoke that rise up into the neighborhood.

“Between the sound, the smell, yeah, just very disruptive,” said the neighbor.

Leslie Norene seconds that.

“Very loud screeching,” said Norene. “Just sometimes you think there could be an accident, I mean it gets really loud.”

She said the cars even drive down her neighborhood street in order to get to the lot.

“We don’t even let our kids play in the streets in the evenings, because it gets pretty crazy,” said Norene.

Neighbors said they’ve called police who told them they’re aware of the problem.

“I’s a nuisance and it’s irritating,” said Norene.

It’s an irritating problem that neighbors said has left them fuming.

“I mean noisy,” said the neighbor who wanted to remain anonymous. “My goodness.”

"PDX drift,” he said.
