GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

A man and three teens are facing murder charges in connection with the deadly shooting of a 17-year-old in Gresham.

Officers responded to Southeast 187th Avenue and Stark Street at 10:40 p.m. Saturday.

Jose Ricardo Morales was found suffering from a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Court documents state an officer performed a traffic stop on a speeding car that went through a stop sign a few blocks away.

The officer heard about the shooting report nearby and noted the four people in the car were all sweating, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The affidavit states the driver, 15-year-old Obed Garcia-Antonio, initially said he didn’t have any identification, before handing the officer an old school ID card and a credit card.

The four suspects were taken into custody and police said a .22 caliber rifle was found in their car.

Garcia-Antonio told investigators the shooting victim had earlier in the evening punched 17-year-old Christian Martinez-Chavez in the face multiple times, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The affidavit states the four suspects then went to the home of Isai Guzman-Ramirez, 20, to get a gun and showed Martinez-Chavez how to use it.

Three of the suspects stated they then searched for Morales and Martinez-Chavez shot him from the car, court documents state.

Martinez-Chavez told detectives that he was assaulted by Morales, but denied any knowledge of how Morales was shot and killed, according to court documents.

A probable cause affidavit states his brother, 16-year-old Francisco Martinez-Chavez, also admitted to being in the car during the deadly shooting.

Guzman-Ramirez told detectives he and Christian Martinez-Chavez are in associated gangs, according to court documents.

All four suspects were arraigned Monday afternoon on charges of murder with a firearm.
