One person critically injured in apparent random SE Portland shooting

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A male victim was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries early Tuesday morning after being shot in southeast Portland.

Officers responded to the scene of Southeast 7th Avenue and Southeast Stark Street at 2:32 a.m. on the report of a person shot.

When police arrived, they contacted the victim, who was a passenger in a vehicle.

While investigating, officers learned the male victim and his friend had left a bar in the area. They then were driving on Southeast Stark Street when the shooting occurred.

The victim was transported by ambulance to a Portland hospital for treatment. His injuries were described by police as life-threatening.

Police said there doesn’t appear to be a known reason why the victim or vehicle was targeted in the shooting. At this point in the investigation, police said there is no description of a suspect.

The shooting is under investigation by members of the Portland Police Bureau’s Detective Division and Forensic Evidence Division criminalists.

Officers closed the area to continue scene investigation and ask anyone who witnessed the shooting to contact the police non-emergency line at 503-823-3333.
