GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

Police officers in Gresham are searching for a driver who they believe hit a man walking on a sidewalk Tuesday night before continuing back on the road.

Officers responded to the area of Northeast Burnside Road and Northeast Linden Avenue at 10:38 p.m. after receiving a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Investigators said the victim was standing on the sidewalk when the suspect’s vehicle, which was heading east on Burnside Road, drove onto the sidewalk and hit the man.

The police noted that it appears that the driver never stopped or even slowed down before continuing to head east after the crash.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The East County Vehicular Crimes Team responded and is investigating the crash. They are looking for a sedan that may have front end and windshield damage from the incident.

Officers ask that anyone with information on this crash or the whereabouts of the vehicle or driver to call the Gresham Police Department tip line at 503-618-2719.
