Car theft suspect flees Washington Co. deputies, climbs tree

CORNELIUS, OR (KPTV) -

A man who allegedly stole a car was apprehended Thursday morning by deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office after he climbed up a tree.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a report of a stolen car north of Cornelius.

Deputies pursued the suspect by car when he tried to flee by foot. The man then climbed up a tree to evade authorities.

AIR was over the scene around 6:30 a.m. when the man was being escorted off the tree at Heynderickx Road and Northwest Cornelius Schefflin Road.

Once the man was back on the ground, he was loaded into an ambulance at the scene.

It was not immediately known if the man was injured or if he faced any charges.
