NEWBERG, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon State Police say a Woodburn man was killed in a two-vehicle head-on crash on Highway 240 Friday night.

Around 11:17 p.m., OSP Troopers responded to the crash on Highway 240 near milepost 6.5 in Yamhill County.

OSP said a preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Ford F-350 pickup, being driven by 24-year-old Jeffrey Bernards of McMinnville, was traveling eastbound on the highway when a westbound 2002 Ford Focus, being driven by 18-year-old Fredy Romero-Lopez of Woodburn, crossed into the eastbound lane and hit the pickup head-on.

Bernards was taken to Newberg Hospital with minor injuries. Romero-Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.

OSP said according to a witness the Ford Focus was passing other vehicles and traveling at a high rate of speed just before the crash.
