COTTAGE GROVE, OR (KPTV) -

Detectives have released photos of a missing Washington County woman’s car as it was found on Pacific Highway in Cottage Grove.

Demi Helenius, 23, was reported missing from Rock Creek by family members on Sunday.

Helenius went to a conference at Portland Embassy Suites, 7900 N.E. 82nd Ave., on Friday, returned home and went back to the conference Saturday morning. She did not return home that night and did not contact any family members.

Her family called her cell phone and a woman answered at 11 p.m. Saturday, saying she had the phone at a Dairy Queen in Creswell, around 130 miles south of Portland.

The employee said a man in the drive-through handed over the phone, saying he found it and asked for it to be placed in their lost-and-found.

Surveillance video at the Dairy Queen showed the license plate of that man’s car. Detectives contacted the man, who said he found the phone in a nearby parking lot after seeing someone throw an item out of a car.

Detectives said they are still investigating that information.

Deputies received numerous tips about Helenius’ car, a 2013 Volkswagen Bug, and it was found Monday on the 1100 block of Pacific Highway in Cottage Grove, about nine miles south of Creswell.

A “very cursory examination” of the car at the scene showed no signs of foul place, according to deputies. The car will be searched more thoroughly at the Oregon State Police crime lab.

Detectives released photos of the car Tuesday morning, hoping it will lead to additional tips.

Friends and family went around Cottage Grove on Tuesday, near the area where Helenius' car was found, handing out fliers and spreading the word about her disappearance.

"She is just a very dear part of our family, she needs to know that there is a hole in our hearts that can only be filled by her and we want her back home safe," said her old brother Casey Culley.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Cottage Grove Police and Lane County Sheriff’s Office are all involved in the investigation.

Deputies said they are investigating all leads they can come up with, including those involving attendees at the conference she Helenius had attended. Investigators said there are not currently any active suspects connected with that conference.

Helenius is 5 foot 3 inches tall and 135 pounds with curly shoulder-length hair that is dyed red. She sometimes wears black plastic rim glasses. She was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt, denim blue bib overalls and Toms slip-on shoes.

Helenius has multiple tattoos on her arms, feet and torso.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact investigators at 503-846-2500.

Family and friends organized a search party at 2 p.m. Tuesday starting at 1115 N. Pacific Highway in Cottage Grove.
