SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown announced the resignation of Oregon Health Authority Director Lynne Saxton on Tuesday night.

In a release, the governor stated Saxton’s resignation is effective Aug. 31.

Brown stated, “We have agreed that her resignation is in the best interest of the agency.”

“Lynne has led the Oregon Health Authority through its most challenging times and helped me ensure that every Oregonian has access to the care they need. She is known as a fighter for Oregon's values and I am proud of how she brought that level of commitment to the staff of OHA,” Brown said.

No other details were released Tuesday by the governor’s office.

An announcement regarding OHA leadership will be made in the coming weeks, according to a statement from the governor’s office.
