Deputies said a woman from Gaston is facing charges including attempted murder after shooting her boyfriend in the leg during an argument Monday evening.

Shannon Main, 57, was arrested for attempted homicide, assault in the first degree, and unlawful use of a weapon.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a disturbance involving a weapon in the 1200 block of Southwest Tanner Creek Road outside of Gaston just before 8:30 p.m. The caller was a 57-year-old man who said his girlfriend, later identified as Main, had shot him in the leg.

Deputies, along with officers from the Forest Grove Police and the Oregon State Police, arrived at the location and took Main into custody. They also found the victim, with a deputy applying a tourniquet to the man’s leg until medical personnel could arrive.

The man was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of the gunshot wound to his left leg and a cut to his head. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Main was taken to the Washington County Jail. Her bail was set at $250,000.

Detectives with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation, and crews from Forest Grove Fire & Rescue, Gaston Fire & Rescue, and Metro West Ambulance assisted in the response.
