GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

A missing 12-year-old boy last seen at a Gresham hotel has been found safe.

Police asked for the public’s help locating Maliki Skutley on Tuesday morning.

He was caught on camera leaving a hotel on the 17700 block of Northeast Sacramento Street early Tuesday morning. He was staying at the hotel with his parents.

Investigators said the boy briefly talked to a man outside the hotel and that man said the boy told him he was headed to a store.

By 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, a Gresham Police Department spokesman reported Maliki had been found safe.

Police said a witness reported seeing Maliki getting into a car in the Cherry Park Shopping Center on the 2500 block of Southwest Cherry Park Road in Troutdale at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The witness recognized Maliki from earlier news reports, called 911 and remained on the phone until officers and deputies arrived at the scene.

Police said the man driving the car is an "associate" of Maliki. That man is being interviewed by detectives and he is cooperating with the investigation, according to officers.

No arrests have been made in this case.

Maliki was reunited with his parents Tuesday afternoon.
