PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland will be the first city in the country to test a new way of banking that gives every customer a private banker.

Umpqua Bank just launched a human-digital banking app called “BFF,” which stands for “Best Financial Friend.”

Umpqua Bank is testing the program at branches in Sellwood, Hawthorne and Lake Oswego.

Using BFF, customers can conduct virtually every in-store bank interaction digitally, with the exception of cash transactions.

Customers can also receive expert financial support through their BFF associate, which serves as their personal private banker devoted to their banking needs.

The BFF test launch comes after a six-month pilot program.

Of the 1,800 users who initially used BFF, 90 percent responded positively.
