PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

New court documents have been filed as the man accused of murdering two people on a MAX train seeks bail.

A bail hearing for Jeremy Christian is scheduled Wednesday.

Police said Christian stabbed and killed Ricky John Best, 53, of Happy Valley, and Taliesin Myrddin Namkai Meche, 23, of Portland, when they tried to intervene as Christian yelled hate speech at two female passengers on a MAX train in May.

Micah Fletcher survived being stabbed.

On Tuesday, prosecutors filed paperwork in an effort to convince a judge to deny Christian’s request for bail.

The documents include details from people at the scene and police recordings.

The court documents allege Christian said something about “decapitating heads” before the stabbings occurred.

From the back of a patrol car after his arrest, court documents state Christian said he could “die in prison a happy man” due to stabbing the men and that he could “rest easy.”

The filings also quote police recordings that prosecutors say captured Christian saying, “I hope they all die. I’m gonna say that on the stand. I’m a patriot and I hope everyone I stabbed died.”

The court petition states Fletcher’s safety should be a factor in denying bail for Christian.
