VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A Vancouver man says he's struggling to sleep after a woman drove her car into his son's bedroom.

The incident happened Monday around 7 p.m. when Joseph Pearson says he was in the kitchen making coffee when a loud bang caught his attention.

"I almost thought it was something with my washer and dryer for some reason but I look over and the bed is pushed all the way out and there's a vehicle coming through my house," said Pearson.

According to the police report filed by Clark County, the driver of a 1993 Nissan Sentra swerved off the road and hit a neighbor's mailbox before crossing the street, crashing through bushes, and slamming into Pearson's 7-year-old son's bedroom.

Pearson says his son was staying at his mom's for the night, and for that, he's counting his blessings.

"It could've been disastrous," Pearson said.

The driver was arrested for DUII and cited for driving without a valid license.

Pearson says he realizes things could have gone in another direction, and he hopes the driver now sees that too.

"She needs to take into consideration there could've been lives at stake," said Pearson.

Pearson is estimating the cost of damage is about $40,000. A restoration company is surveying the damage on Wednesday.
