PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Portland Police Sunshine Division, with the help of hundreds of volunteers, packed up boxes of food and delivered them to families in need.

Portland Police said they packed 3,800 boxes of food between December 11-13, and the boxes were delivered to families on Saturday.

This is the 95th year the Sunshine Division has done this tradition.

The group began delivering food baskets back in the 1920s.

"This program has impacted hundreds of thousands of families in the Portland area over the years. We really couldn't do this without the support of the community. Safeway and Botsford & Goodfellow Inc.'s generosity has allowed us to continue to improve the quality of food offerings to families each year" said Officer Matt Tobey, Sunshine Division's assigned Portland Police Bureau officer.
