SEATTLE (KPTV) -

Prior to kickoff at Sunday's Seattle Seahawks game, it was another type of Hawk that was helping rev up the crowd.

Rick Steele, head football coach at Hockinson High School in Brush Prairie, was perched above the roar of the crowd to help raise the 12th Man flag at Centurylink Field.

Earlier this month, Steele’s Hockinson Hawks won their first ever 2A Washington State Championship. Kalama’s Sean McDonald was on the flagpole too.

Steele and McDonald were two of the six head coaches to have the flag raising honors in representing the WIAA champs from the gridiron for 2017.

“It’s a dream come true for myself, my team, for our community and so it’s just exciting to get out here in front of a lot of people,” Steele said. “Everyone has been asking, hey, where exactly is Hockinson? So maybe someone will check a map and see where we’re at.”

Coach Steele also has a different look these days. His title team shaved off his recognizable mustache during an assembly on Friday.
