PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Neighbors in north Portland say a tow truck driver smashed into an SUV and then took off.

A witness in the neighborhood told FOX 12 the crash happened at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

“I came out to look at the damage and saw that the front fender had essentially been sheared off and an accordion down the side of the car,” said Steven Roberts, the owner of the SUV.

Roberts said the SUV was parked in front of his home on North Argyle Street near North Peninsular Avenue.

FOX 12 spoke with a neighbor on Sunday, who said he saw a blue tow truck swerve into the SUV Saturday night, hit it and then drive off.

“Which was kind of surprising that a tow truck would be the vehicle that would be causing an incident, rather than helping somebody from that incident,” said Roberts.

If you have any information about the crash or spot a damaged blue tow truck, call Portland police.
