SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A man caught on camera burglarizing a Salem restaurant was identified and taken into custody thanks to tips from the public, according to deputies.

Robert Bilbruck, 65, of Salem, was detained at his home in Salem at 2:15 p.m. Thursday.

Bilbruck was identified as the suspect in a burglary investigation at Blondzee’s Guest House Restaurant on Portland Road Northeast.

The owner of the restaurant told FOX 12 the suspect snuck in Wednesday, grabbed bags of money from a safe and shoved them down the front of his pants.

An employee had just grabbed money out of the safe to put into the tills before the crime occurred.

Deputies said they developed probable cause to arrest Bilbruck after the story and surveillance images hit the news, leading to “numerous” tips from viewers.

Deputies remained at Bilbruck’s home Thursday afternoon, as they waited for a search warrant to search the location.

Deputies said Bilbruck would be arrested on charges of second-degree burglary and first-degree theft.

A prior jail booking photo of Bilbruck was released by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.
