The family of a Portland woman is asking the driver who hit her and took off Thursday morning to come forward.

Jason Karambelas says his sister, Vanessa, was crossing Northeast Cully just before 9:00 a.m. Thursday when a maroon van can speeding towards her.

The young woman had been at Bison Coffee across the street from her home, a trip she makes every morning.

Surveillance video shows the young woman getting agitated at the driver moments later the van speeds forward knocking Vanessa to the ground and running over her.

“I see him accelerate and hit her with the car then run over her with his front tires right there in the street,” Jason said.

He rushed to his sister side to help her.

“Luckily there was an EMT driving by and he came through and was guiding us through it all,” Jason said.

Vanessa was taken to a Portland hospital. Her brother says she is pretty banged up.

“She’s not real good,” Jason said. “Physically she is pretty messed up, got broken ribs, she’s got bruised lungs.”

Portland police are asking anyone with information in the case to give them a call.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for medical expenses.
