ORLANDO, Fla. (AP/Meredith) — Authorities have found human remains in the backyard of a Walt Disney World employee who disappeared in 2015.
On Friday, investigators dug up an arm bone outside the home of monorail mechanic Michael Shaver, 36, the Orlando Sentinel reported. Parts of a human skeleton were found under a concrete slab near an outdoor fire pit the next day, according to the newspaper's report.
Lake County sheriff's deputies also found articles of clothing. The remains have been sent to the medical examiner's office for identification.
Despite vanishing three years ago, Shaver was not reported missing until last month. His older sister, Stacie Shaver, 46, said her family didn't want to get police involved because they thought they could find him on their own.
Authorities first visited the home on Feb. 16, and his wife 35-year-old wife Laurie Shaver allowed them to search the residence. However, it's not clear what prompted authorities to check the house.
While investigating, deputies noticed what seemed like new concrete near a fire pit in the backyard and asked for permission to bring in a cadaver dog. His wife refused and asked for an attorney. Authorities later obtained a warrant and dug up the remains, which have been sent to the medical examiner's office for identification.
