NEAR SISTERS, OR (KPTV) -

Thunderstorms moving across central Oregon Wednesday night caused several landslides on Oregon Route 242 near Sisters, coating the road with thick mud, the Oregon State Department of Transportation said.

OR 242, also called Old McKenzie Highway, is closed between milepost 70 and milepost 81 until further notice. There is no estimated time for reopening, an ODOT spokesperson said.

ODOT crews were on scene Wednesday night to help motorists exit the highway.

Drivers headed through the area should use alternate routes and check Trip Check for the latest updates.
