GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

Whoever threw an illegal firework out of a car on the Fourth of July, sparking a fire at an RV lot on Southeast Hogan Road, is still on the run.

Gresham fire officials said the firework sparked some hedges and the fire spread to the other side of the fence onto three RVs and a bus.

That bus was going to be transformed into a business as owner Eric Potter says he was working to turn it into a food cart.

“Go big or go home and that’s what I want to do is feed all the little barbecue maniacs all around,” Potter said.

But now Potter has to start all over.

He said his family was watching FOX 12 that night when they saw the fire on TV and rushed over to see what had happened to the bus.

Potter said it has been a goal for a while to bring a bus cart to Portland and Gresham and he was almost finished refurbishing the bus.

Now, it will cost more than $10,000 to repair.

“Not too cool about illegal fireworks, that’s what took this thing out and is what took these four others out and I’m a big fan of illegal fireworks, but not too much anymore,” Potter said.

Potter has a GoFundMe page to raise money for the repair costs. He is hoping to have the bus up and running by next spring.
