PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police are asking to speak with people who may have witnessed a deadly officer-involved shooting last month at Portland State University.

Two PSU campus police officers were involved in the June 29 shooting on Southwest College Street between Southwest 6th Avenue and Southwest Broadway near the university’s downtown campus.

One man, identified as Jason E. Washington, 45, was shot and killed at approximately 1:30 a.m.

The officers involved in the shooting have been identified as Shawn McKenzie and James Dewey.

The Portland Police Bureau’s Detective Division Homicide Detail has been assigned to investigate the shooting.

Detectives believe there are witnesses to the shooting who have not reached out to law enforcement, based on information learned during the investigation.

Authorities ask anyone who witnessed the shooting to contact Detective Rico Beniga at 503-823-0457 or rico.beniga@portlandoregon.gov.
