PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Detectives are asking for more information about a deadly shooting in Portland’s Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood earlier this month.

Billy R. Mayfield, 37, died July 2 while he was being rushed to the hospital.

Mayfield was shot around 9:20 p.m. that night in the 12200 block of Southeast Harold Street, according to Portland police.

Officers responded to the scene after a nearby resident called 911 and reported that someone was shot inside their home.

Officers searched the area but did not find anyone.

Detectives Wednesday said they believe there are people in the community with information about the shooting that have not contacted law enforcement.

The bureau asks anyone with additional information to call or email Homicide Detail Detective Vince Cui at 503-823-0449 or vince.cui@portlandoregon.gov, or to contact Crime Stoppers of Oregon, which offers cash rewards for information.
