90-year-old motorcyclist seriously injured in Marion Co. crash

MARION COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Deputies responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and car in Marion County on Thursday morning.

The crash happened on Cordon Road Northeast near State Street at 9:13 a.m.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office said a motorcycle rider was traveling north on Cordon Road when a southbound passenger car turned in front of the motorcycle and they collided.

The motorcyclist, 90-year-old Virgil Bolen of Salem, was taken to a Salem hospital with serious injuries, but deputies said he is expected to survive.

The driver of the car, 52-year-old Kaye Young of Salem, was not injured. Young was cited by deputies for making a dangerous left turn. 

The sheriff's office said Cordon Road was closed between State Street and Auburn Road Northeast during the crash investigation.
