Death investigation launched after body found in burned down home near Troutdale

TROUTDALE, OR (KPTV) -

Detectives have launched a death investigation after a body was found in a burned down home near Troutdale.

Firefighters responded to the 30200 block of East Woodard Road at 12:12 a.m. Tuesday. They arrived to find a fully involved house fire with the roof beginning to fall.

Deputies said Thursday that human remains were discovered at the fire scene during a routine investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office are conducting a death investigation.

No other details were immediately released about the case, with deputies saying it is a “complex and ongoing investigation.” The cause of the fire also remains under investigation. 

Firefighters said the home, valued at $250,000, and its contents, valued at $125,000, were all destroyed.
