DUFUR, OR (KPTV) -

A wildfire that has burned through more than 20,000 acres southwest of Dufur is fully contained, Central Oregon fire authorities say.

The South Valley Fire in Wasco County erupted Aug. 1 and forced Level 3 evacuations.

The blaze, which was first estimated at 600 acres, quickly burned through tens of thousands of acres, firefighters said. Three homes and 15 outbuildings were destroyed and high winds made the flames difficult to control.

Investigators say the fire was likely was human-caused. No other details about the investigation have been released.

Oregon Department of Forestry officials in The Dalles say they will continue to monitor the blaze. Fire resources will continue to patrol the area for hot spots and will finalize suppression repair needs.
