Oregon State Police released video Wednesday of a speeding motorcyclist who lost control of his motorcycle and slid several feet across Interstate 84.

On June 18, Senior Trooper Michael Holloran said he was sitting in his stopped patrol car on the shoulder of I-84 in The Dalles when he heard a speeding vehicle approaching.

Holloran looked in his side mirror and saw 31-year-old Kenneth Theiman Jr. lose control of his motorcycle. The motorcycle dropped onto its side and Theiman fell to the pavement and slid across the freeway, police said.

The dashboard camera in Holloran's patrol car caught the incident on camera. As soon as Theiman stopped rolling, Holloran ran to his aid.

Theiman was taken to Mid-Columbia Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries. Police said he was likely speeding at 85 mph when he lost control. He was cited on a charge of careless driving.

Sgt. Pat Shortt said the video shows the dangers of speeding.

"It only takes a second for something to happen that you may have to react to while keeping your vehicle under control," Shortt said.
