PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Four people were injured in a shooting in northeast Portland on Saturday evening.

It happened around 5 p.m. near Northeast Webster and 55th.

All four of the victims were adults, Portland Police Sergeant Kevin Allen confirmed.

“We heard gunfire erupt,” said Anthony Henderson, who lives near Northeast 55th Avenue and Sumner Street. “I thought maybe it was someone goofing around.”

Henderson said he heard police call it a shootout and one officer told him 100 rounds had been fired.

“I’ve never heard that many shots in my life,” he said. “It was really shocking, and like I said it sounded like the sound was moving as if they were chasing each other.”

Two people were taken to the hospital by ambulance and two others were taken to the hospital in private vehicles.

Their injuries were not life-threatening, according to Sgt. Allen.

Living in the neighborhood for 40 years, Henderson said it’s usually quiet, “but you know, there’s issues. Not shootouts. So, it’s very concerning. I have two children. There’s a lot of children on the street.”

There were no immediate arrests and the police’s investigation is ongoing.
