New apartments for unhoused, former foster youth open in Hazel Dell
VANCOUVER Wash. (KPTV) - The Vancouver Housing Authority held a grand opening ceremony Wednesday for an apartment building for youth who are unhoused or have just left foster care.
The new 30-unit building in Hazel Dell is named for the Cowlitz word for “hope.”
This project is the next step in an ongoing partnership between the VHA and Janus Youth Programs to create low-income, low-barrier housing for homeless youth.

“I’m so excited because these 30 units means that we have that many less youth who are on the streets, and who have a roof over their head and a stable place to call home, who can build their lives the way that they want,” said Kit Kuran, VHA director of supportive services.
The new residents began moving into the building this week.
