ORIGINAL STORY

GRESHAM Ore. (KPTV) - A suspicious death investigation is underway at a mobile home community in Gresham. Right now, neighbors have more questions than answers.

“Why? It’s really random,” Steven Cvar asked. “This is a quiet community, this stuff doesn’t happen here.”

A man was shot and killed after he pointed a gun at several officers early Monday morning in Vancouver.

Cvar lives in Suburban Mobile Estates off of SE Stark Street, where police spent the afternoon investigating what they call a “suspicious death.” It’s a community for anyone ages 55 and over, and Cvar said everyone knows everyone. That’s why he was especially surprised to see the investigation happening so close to home.

“Is it spreading? Is it going to happen again?” Cvar wonders. “I’m not going to lose sleep over it. Police are on top of it, that’s their job.”

He said this is the first time anything like this has happened here, and he just hopes it is not a trend.

A suspect was shot and killed by officers following a pursuit in The Dalles early Tuesday morning, according to The Dalles Police Department.

“Is Portland bleeding over here? All sorts of things go through your mind,” Cvar said.

One neighbor told FOX 12 they heard gunshots Sunday night, but Gresham police say that may not be accurate. Investigators say they hope to release more information soon.
