Sheriff’s office identifies 2 killed in Clatskanie shooting

CLATSKANIE, Ore. (KPTV) - The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of two people who were killed in a shooting in Clatskanie over the weekend.

On Saturday, Feb. 1, at about 1:30 p.m., deputies responded to the scene on Ilmari Road where they found five people who had been shot.

According to the sheriff’s office, investigators believe 32-year-old Anthony Hanson pulled out a gun during a disagreement and shot four people in the home - 21-year-old Ryan Thies, 25-year-old Patrick McKenzie, 28-year-old Renato Pascoal, and 28-year-old Molly Cassidy. The sheriff’s office says Thies fired back, hitting Hanson.

Hanson and Cassidy were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two people were shot and killed, and three others were injured in Clatskanie on Saturday afternoon, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

The three others were taken to area hospitals for treatment. The sheriff’s office says one of the victim’s who was rushed by Life Flight to the hospital in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing, and no other details are being released by the sheriff’s office at this time.

“We are conducting a thorough review of all evidence, including witness statements, to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic situation. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Oregon State Police, St. Helens Police, Scappoose Police and the Rainier Police Departments for their assistance,” said Sheriff Brian Pixley.
