Debra Gil anchors FOX 12’s weekend edition of Good Day Oregon from 6 to 9 a.m. and reports and fills in for the co-anchors on the Emmy Award winning newscast during the week.
Deb grew up on a walnut orchard in Fresno, California, where she helped her grandfather on the farm and raised pigs and sheep. She started her television news career in Texas, before moving back to Central California, and then joining the FOX 12 team in 2003.
Debra is married to a former sports anchor and news reporter, who she met in a newsroom. He left the biz to be a stay-at-home dad to their daughter, who is now all grown up and lives in Beaverton. Their “at home” child now is an energetic Jack Russell Terrier they rescued here in Oregon.
Deb loves travel and sports. When she’s not at work, you can bet she’s at a sporting event or on another travel adventure such as spring training baseball in Arizona, a hockey game in Missouri, a soccer match in Belgium or sipping wine in France. She’s well on her way to completing one of her bucket list goals: to visit every MLB stadium in the country.
Her other obsessions are coffee, shopping thrift stores, reading, hiking, Northwest wines and food!
