(Meredith) - A Pennsylvania man who fled the state after being charged with 865 counts of child rape was captured in Florida on Thursday.
Garrick Landon Bloom, 46, is accused of "grooming" and sexually assaulting a young boy for several years. Investigators said the abuse started when the child was 5 years old, according to the Tallahassee Democrat.
The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Bloom outside a homeless shelter in Tallahassee. He stayed at the shelter for only two days this week, but had been on the run since Jan. 16.
He's currently being held in the Leon County Detention Center and will be extradited back to Pennsylvania to face the following charges:
- 216 counts of rape of a child
- 216 counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child
- 216 counts of aggravated indecent assault of a child
- 216 counts of statutory sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child
