Beavers baseball fans make the trek to Omaha for CWS Finals

The Oregon State Beavers and the Arkansas Razorbacks – one team will be crowned national champions of college baseball this week.

Six trips to the College World Series since 2005 – this 2018 adventure is just as pleasurable as the first for OSU fans and alums. From Rosenblatt Stadium to T.D. Ameritrade Park, the home of the CWS since 2011, it’s baseball nirvana in downtown Omaha, Nebraska.

“Today is my husband’s birthday and we thought, what a better way to celebrate his birthday then to come to Omaha and cheer for the Beavers,” said Kathy Loving, OSU fan from McMinnville.

The travel log in Omaha – you always want to stay just a little bit longer no matter the distance.

“Cheering the team on, picking them up as much as we can … feeling like a real part of it,” said Jerry Morrison, a fan from Salem.

Bernie McGrath, a fan from Portland, said, “We are just excited. You can tell I am sort of hoarse from yelling for the Beavs.”

“All of those guys from Little League in the Pacific Northwest in the rain, with that bat and it hurt so bad and these guys come from the Northwest, it’s just awesome to see them play. I love it,” said fan Casey Carstensen from Portland.

And the numbers might be in Beaver Nation’s favor.

“Every year that ends in eight, a Pac-12 team has won the tournament … 58, 68, 78, 88, 98, 08, and now 18. That’s the stat of the day,” said Bill McKee, a fan from Happy Valley.

The Beavers are two wins away from adding a third trophy to the Omaha Room at Goss Stadium in Corvallis.
