The first housing project to be completed with City of Vancouver Affordable Housing Funds opened on Wednesday.
Meriwether Place, located at 6221 NE Fourth Plain Blvd., is a three-story 30-unit development providing supportive housing to low-income and formerly homeless individuals.
All units serve households at or below 50 percent of area median income with half of the units designated for households at or below 30 percent.
Some units also support housing for homeless people facing mental health challenges and the location has provided access to social services, grocery stores and public transit.
Other projects underway or near completion are the Community Services Northwest Property Rehabilitation to preserve seven rental units as well as Caples Terrace (28 units), McKibbin Commons (four units) and Isabella Court (49 units).
In addition to Affordable Housing Funds, the project was financed through a mix of public and private funding sources, including low-income housing tax credits.
