The Oregon State Police say that a teen driver has died after a two-car crash on Highway 42 near Myrtle Beach Friday evening.

According to troopers, a Chevrolet Aveo being driven by Savanna Jo McAdams, 18, of Coquille, was headed west on Highway 42 when McAdams lost control while negotiating a corner.

The Aveo then crossed the centerline, colliding with a Chevrolet Suburban being driven by Mary L. Jones, 41, of Myrtle Point. Both vehicles then came to a stop on the highway.

Troopers found McAdams had died at the scene, while Jones was taken by ambulance to Coquille Valley Hospital with non-life-threaten injuries.

OSP investigators had portions of Highway 24 closed while examining the crash scene and noted that speed is be considered as a contributing factor in the incident.
