A deadly crash shut down SR-500 in the Vancouver area Tuesday.

Washington State Patrol reported the road was fully blocked at Milepost 9 at 10:30 a.m.

Troopers initially reported that critical injuries were involved in the multi-vehicle crash and later said one person had died.

The driver who caused the crash is under investigation for DUI-drugs, according to troopers. Four vehicles were involved in the crash.

Police said a 53-year-old woman from Camas was driving a 2004 Cadillac Escalade west on the highway when she crossed the centerline and hit the back of an eastbound 2004 Ford F250 pickup.

The truck was forced across the centerline and was hit by an oncoming 2011 Volkswagen Jetta.

The Cadillac Escalade collided head-on with an eastbound 2005 Pontiac Vibe after the initial collision. The driver of the Pontiac, 68-year-old Jonna D. Porteous, was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries, according to police.

The driver of the Cadillac and the driver of the Volkswagen were taken to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the Ford pickup was injured, but was not transported to the hospital.

Washington State Patrol said the incident remains under investigation and no arrests have been made at this time.
